Summary

With an inexhaustible curiosity, Tom can be counted on for a highly collaborative, reliable, but flexible use of evidence based facilitation and coaching methods. Tom Krapu provides facilitation, assessment and developmental coaching services to groups and individuals. He seeks organizations and individuals who can benefit from assessment and development of personal, managerial and/or executive abilities. He has worked with a broad variety of individuals at all levels of an organization and stages in life. With individuals and within organizations, he specializes in integrating personal and organizational or career goals for his client to find their infinite potential. In addition, he has worked extensively with people regarding the development of a life plan and coaching to execute that plan. He has completed advanced coaches training and facilitators training with the Arbinger Institute (1) where he is a member of their "Results" coaching team and an authorized user of Arbinger methods and materials in one-on-one coaching. As a facilitator, he has facilitated one to three day seminars including the Creating Unity seminar for building community within organizations as well as Arbinger's "Choice" trainings and a highly rated presentation on "Collaborative Teaming".

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Professional Coach

December 2001 to Present

Initiated a "crosstraining" program as a psychologist to transition to the coaching profession. This included nearly fifty hours of personal and mentor coaching, immersion into the coaching paradigm and active participation in the International Coach Federation (ICF). Participation as a member of the International Coach Federation has included attending multiple conferences, as well as presenting at two conferences. In addition, I have engaged in coaching research and have contributed to two of the ICF Research Symposia. In 2003 I founded the Coaching and Psychotherapy Communities Special Interest Group (SIG) within the ICF and am certified by the ICF as a "Professional Certified Coach" (PCC). I have experienced a variety of coach training experiences including the Mastery Coaching training through the Arbinger Institute, where I am a member of the select "Results" organizational coaching team and an Arbinger facilitator. I have delivered international individual and group coaching initiatives in organizations from Fortune 100 companies and higher education settings to smaller for profit and nonprofit entities. In addition I have provided individual coaching services to clergy from the congregational to the bishop level as well as to people in transition, entrepreneurs and people in small business.

Activities include peer review, clinical consultation, and participation in staff development, especially in the "supervisor referral" process. Providing leadership in the development and implementation of a management information system (MIS), consultation for managerial and employee assessment, and generation of reports to the lead clinical and managerial team.

Developmental Psychologist - St. Louis:

December 1985 to 2011

Worked with individuals of all ages from a broad range of backgrounds, assisting them in assessing their developmental needs and working to accomplish tasks related to those needs. This includes working with individuals from all levels of corporations and businesses with a variety of developmental needs.

Provider of consultative services to a three hundred bed, hospital including the provision of training presentations to staff and team meetings.

Consultations and developmental counseling services provided to community resources including EAP and Managed Care Companies.

Developed an Information System for the daily operation of a self owned private practice including study of outcomes. I have utilized database, spreadsheet, word processing/desktop publishing and Internet based applications since 1984.

From 1989, served on the board of the St. Louis T'ai Chi Ch'uan Association (not-for-profit) for over nine years. Including involvement in daily operation of the organization, working closely with board members and constituents in the capacity of president, vice-president, general board member, and instructor.

Senior Partner, Consultant, Psychologist: Institute for Motivational Development:

May 1985 - September 1988

Partner of private practitioner group. Responsibilities included management of business related aspects in the private practice setting. Provided supervision to two professional staff. Worked with individuals of all ages from a broad range of backgrounds, assisting them in assessing their developmental needs and working to accomplish tasks related to those needs.


Licensed Consulting Psychologist - Counseling Center, Saint Mary's College, Winona, Minnesota:

August 1984 - May 1985

Provider of counseling and consultative services to a college population of over 1100 students. Included providing supervision to counseling center staff as well as community consultation. Provided career services and consultation to general college population. Developed and implemented a comprehensive evaluation and accountability MIS system.


Senior Staff Counselor - Counseling Center, Illinois State University:

1982 - August 1984

Served as a part of a multidisciplinary team member on numerous work teams. Team activities included developing a paraprofessional team where training, supervision and evaluation were required. Also, needs assessment research was performed and evaluated. Community outreach and marketing of programs was performed within a team environment. Assisted in the provision of career related and general counseling services to general college population.


Senior Staff Counselor - Counseling Center, Valparaiso University, Valparaiso, Indiana:

August 1980 - 1982

Helped develop and directed a Career Resource Center. Offered consultative and developmental services to the university community.


CONSULTATIVE ORIENTATION AND INTERESTS

Facilitation, consultations and interventions are primarily directed by a practical, eclectic model of management assessment and development. Managerial assessment conceptualizations are derived from a detailed historical analysis, 360 surveying, personality testing with normative interpretation of data when necessary, and interview assessment of managerial strengths and weaknesses. Intervention modalities utilized are multimodal, including behavioral skills training, cognitive/educational team/management/career development, shadowing, and coaching. Special interest in working with individuals who have a developed work history but who are not achieving at their managerial/career potential. Specialized training through the Arbinger Institute (1), and their solution to the problem of self deception has been integrated into my work with individual and the results they are seeking in their life.

FACILITATION, CONSULTATION AND EDUCATION PROGRAMMING

I have presented or facilitated a variety of consultative and educational presentations and workshops. These presentations and workshops have been to medical students and hospital personnel, business personnel, college administrators and faculty, college and high school students and the parents of students. Just a few of the topics presented include:
